Cityscape

I have continued to develop some of the abstract geometric images from previous posts. As the image above developed it began to remind me of the built environment, of buildings and roads and railings all converging together in a mass of business.

Here are some of the other explorations of the image:

Bike chain abstraction

I revisited some previous works based on a photo of a bike chain and further developed the image. I liked the monochrome colours and the soft textures that emerged through the process.

Drain

I have begun to further develop the geometric images using colour. This is my first exploration - it was originally a photo of a drain (the red, horizontal lines in the centre).

I like the contrast of lines and textures.

Sunburst

I am continuing to work on exploring the geometric images. The fractured, layered effect below is created as the images shatter into different visual plains and are transformed.

I particularly enjoyed the feeling of depth and distance created in the first image.

Layers

This development is a combination of two of the geometrics as one is being transformed into the other. I found the layered effect created a very visually interesting image as well as a sense of depth. In another way it reminded me a little of newspaper print.

Wave

This is a further development of one of the geometric monochrome images. I love the textures and sense of movement it captures.

Geometrics

The reason that there have not been many posts this month is that I have just returned from a long school trip to Rwanda.

However, now that I am back, I have been busy!

I have continued to develop the geometric images from my previous posts in a number of ways. In particular I liked the way the second image was divided up into rectangles by the pattern and direction of the lines:

Diagonals

These are further developments of some of the geometrical images I had been working on in previous posts. I likes the strong diagonals that emerged as the images 'shattered'. I will further develop these to explore some colour combinations.

Geometric wheels

I further explored the geometrical images I had been working on in a previous post. I was quite interested in the contrast that developed between the smooth block colours and the textured lines of the wheel image that divided it:

Bike tyre revisited

After my further developments of the wheel image I decided to review and develop some previous images. I worked on the bike image that I posted in January. In particular I really liked the visual echo effect that was created, and the dramatic contrast between the black and the white areas

Wheel development

I have been continuing to develop the 'Wheel' image from a previous post using some new digital tools.

Monochrome Geometrics

I have been experimenting with some new digital tools and ways to explore and develop images. I created this series of abstract compositions comprised of geometric shapes and patterns. They were all derived from the same original photograph of a stone wall with plants growing along the top.
